Hi gal pals, Ally here with a new post on my favorite moments from 2017. This has been a pretty insane year for me... left a job, started a job, checked a country off my list, GOT FREAKIN MARRIED, and traveled a toooon! I say this every year, but I think 2017 was the best one yet. So without further adieu, let's check out my favorite moments from 2017......
January 1st, 2017- *cue Full House theme song* Hayes and I have this fun tradition of going somewhere new every New Years Eve. We've done New Orleans, San Francisco, and in a few short weeks we will be heading to Seattle. I'm trying to convince Hayes that we should take our tradition international next year and checkout Amsterdam together. This is my favorite tradition of ours and San Francisco was a blast to explore.
April 24th, 2017- Hayes and I went down to an itty bitty island off of Cancun called Isla Holbox for his best friend's wedding and we had a BLAST. We absolutely loved it, I mean this was the view from our freakin' room! It was insane. The island is so remote; you fly direct from LAX to Cancun, take a 3 hour car ride down a dirt road through the jungle (literally not kidding, the freakin' JUNGLE.It was so rad), then you hop on a ferry for 45 minutes, and once you're at the island.... NO CARS! Golf carts only. It was amazing. So authentic, beautiful, and no wifi so it was the perfect excuse to jump off social media for awhile.
May 21st, 2017- My bachelorette party in Palm Springs was the perfect weekend away with some of my favorite gals. We stayed at The Saguaro, had amazing food, and drank waaaaaay too much tequila.
June 3rd, 2017- My favorite day ever, ever, ever! The wedding was more magical than I could have ever anticipated. We were forecasted to have the heaviest torrential downpour of rain.... like, tornado status. But the morning of, I woke up to picture perfect clear blue skies and knew that was going to be incredible. If you haven't heard Hayes' wedding vows, you need to listen to them... they really are incredibly beautiful and he truly does live them out every day in serving me and our relationship. On the other hand, I was so nervous I put his ring on the wrong hand... ha! We laughed, we drank, we danced. It was PERFECT.
July 5th, 2017- Although I can't give too many details as I like to keep my work and blog life as separate as possible, I started an amazing job at a company I love surrounded by incredibly talented (and chic as hell) people. I love going to work every day and I really have become very passionate about what I do and who I work with. I feel very lucky to enjoy what I do!
August 19-September 3rd, 2017- Not to brag, but I legit think our honeymoon was the best honeymoon ever. Hayes had never been to Europe before so DUH... we were going to Europe. No questions asked. I planned the entire thing, worked with a cruise line (correction: the best cruise line. Windstar really is freakin' amazing) so we could see as much as possible, and stayed at one of the best hotels in the world. Yah, it was pretty surreal. And since I'm already talking about highlights, let's dive in a little deeper at my favorite highlights from our honeymoon:
- So right from the start, this honeymoon was crazy amazing and unexpected. We had a layover in ATL and our flight taking off from LAX was already running late. We thought for sure we weren't going to make our flight and that we would have to catch the next one and miss a day in Venice. But as we were hurrying off the plane, a Delta employee had a sign that read MR. AND MRS. LUCAS HAYES COLLINS. She said to follow her down on to the tarmac where, and I am being so serious right now, a red Porsche was sitting there with the trunk open. "Throw your bags in the back, I'm taking you to your plane." okay.... WHAT. She drove us on the tarmac in the official Delta Porsche to our plane. WILD. So yeah, Delta came in hot with a serious hook up. Side note: Thanks to my mom for contacting Delta customer service for us and letting them know we would be late. Hayes and I are now devoted Delta flyers forevs.
- If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen the amazing hotel we stayed in Venice. The Gritti Palace is one of the best hotels in the world and the building has been around for over 500 years. It has been my dream to stay there and it did not disappoint or fall short in anyway. But it was even more amazing when, upon checking in, they informed us that we were eligible for a free upgrade. Okay, we thought. Maybe our room will have a sitting room or a better view? Oh boy were we wrong..... When they took us up to our room, it wasn't just a room. It was the room. Like, original renaissance art, floor to ceiling marble, multiple balconies, and of course, champagne with a view people die for. It was incredible.
- After a few days of sailing on Windstar, we sailed into Kotor, Montenegro. That day was definitely one of my favorites. We watched the sun come up over the mountains as we sailed down the fjords at sunrise. We stayed out late, eating local food on a jasmine laced terrace with black and white Charlie Chaplin films being projected onto the stone building across from us. After, we bar hopped and drank local beer and wine until it was time to board our ship and set sail again.
Also, right before the honeymoon, Hayes got offered an amazing job and took it. Always so proud of him for doing what he loves.
Now through - NYE- Hayes and I are enjoying life in sunny SoCal with our kitty Salem. We have lots of travel plans for 2018, with high hopes of going some pretty amazing places. Hayes started his new job as well and for now, we're just cruising. We can't wait to see what 2018 has in store and I am so excited to check out Seattle so stay tuned on that post too!
